LMFTA, MA, MBA
Greetings! I'm Mark, a Marriage and Family Therapist with a passion for guiding couples and individuals toward healthier, more fulfilling lives and relationships.
With a diverse background in healthcare management, small-business ownership, and as an adoptive parent, I bring a unique perspective to my practice. This varied experience allows me to deeply understand the intricacies of interpersonal dynamics across different contexts, enriching my ability to support you effectively.
My therapeutic approach is informed by theories such as the Gottman Method, Structural, and Solution-Focused orientations, offering a comprehensive toolkit to address a wide range of issues. Don’t worry if those sound like a foreign language. I will share about what all that means when we chat.
Whether you're navigating the complexities of marriage, seeking personal growth, or striving to enhance your connections with others, I provide a nurturing and nonjudgmental environment for exploration and growth. We'll work collaboratively to identify strengths, address areas for improvement, and implement practical strategies to foster positive change.
COUPLES COUNSELING
I specialize in the Gottman Method for couples counseling, a research-backed, evidence-based approach developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman. This method focuses on creating a "Sound Relationship House," built on the core pillars of trust, commitment, emotional safety, and effective communication. The Gottman Method helps couples develop the tools to navigate conflict in a healthy way, while also nurturing the emotional connection that forms the foundation of a strong, lasting relationship.
By addressing conflict constructively, the Gottman Method empowers couples to work through disagreements with respect and empathy, avoiding destructive patterns such as criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling. Instead of focusing on blame, it encourages open dialogue and understanding, allowing partners to feel heard and validated. This approach not only enhances communication but also strengthens intimacy and deepens the friendship between partners, which is a crucial aspect of sustaining a loving and resilient relationship.
Through personalized counseling sessions, I guide couples through practical exercises and techniques tailored to their unique dynamic. These tools are designed to improve emotional attunement, rebuild trust, and create healthier patterns of interaction, fostering a partnership that can better withstand life's challenges. My goal is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where couples can address their concerns, learn new strategies for growth, and ultimately transform their relationship into one filled with greater connection, understanding, and love.
Whether you're dealing with recurring conflicts, emotional disconnection, or simply want to strengthen your bond, the Gottman Method offers a proven framework to help you and your partner move forward together. Let's work together to create a positive and lasting change in your relationship, one step at a time.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
In my work with individual clients, I draw from an integrative approach that combines Structural Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy, allowing for both deep insight and practical, forward-moving change. This blend supports clients in understanding the root patterns that shape their thoughts, behaviors, and relationships, while also empowering them to build on their strengths and take actionable steps toward their goals.
Structural Therapy helps uncover and restructure long-standing, often subconscious patterns that may be keeping you stuck—whether in your personal life, relationships, or emotional responses. By exploring how your experiences, roles, and relational dynamics have been organized over time, we can begin to shift unhelpful patterns and create space for healthier, more adaptive ways of living.
At the same time, Solution-Focused Therapy emphasizes what’s working and what’s possible. Rather than dwelling on problems, this approach highlights your existing strengths, resources, and successes to help you envision a preferred future—and take meaningful steps toward it. This can be especially helpful when you’re feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or in need of motivation.
Together, these therapeutic modalities provide a comprehensive and flexible framework for healing and growth. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, or simply feeling stuck, I work collaboratively with you to foster insight, resilience, and change. My goal is to support you in gaining clarity, building confidence, and living a more intentional, fulfilling life—on your terms.
